PSYCHOLOGICAL
COMMENTARIES on the teaching of GURDJIEFF & OUSPENSKY
Maurice NIcoll
This 6 volume (special
index included) encyclopedic set contains hundreds of brief, sharply focused,
penetrating essays and commentaries on a wide range of specific topics
connected with the practice of the teaching presented by Gurdjieff and
Ouspensky.
The first two volumes
contain letters written to guide the author’s groups when personal
visits were interrupted by war conditions in Britain. Maurice Nicoll continued
the practice of writing these essays to groups until his death in 1953.
"They will
remain the standard work on the subject as long as these ideas are of
interest to mankind." - Kenneth Walker
About the
index
This index for the commentaries was privately published in 1964 by a Beryl
Pogson - Nicoll workgroup. This is not the usual Index of words - this
Index is of Ideas and shows their inter-relation through the many different
angles of view that Nicoll gave.
A customer reviewed the index and wrote: "In comparing these indexes
with the Weiser index, I find for me greater substance to them in content
and thought of grouping. These Indexes represent greater proximity to
the text and proximity for the reader who is studying the Work."
